mc2gallery presents the first Italian solo show by Patricio Reig (Argentina, 1959). Always interested in experimenting with alternative photographic processes, he has focused his research on techniques such as wet collodion, salted paper or pinhole photography, with the use of bitumen, coffee or sensitive emulsions applied to papers of different types. Recollection, the dreamlike dimension, melancholy, time, the cycles of life and death, still lifes, the female figure, writing, ready-made, are some of the elements of the work that Patricio Reig develops with a personal and complex expressive technique, with formats we are not used to in terms of size and daguerreotype flavor. It takes us to a timeless world where everyone can find hidden memories that seem their own. The anonymized faces and the universality of feminine elements, enclosed in boxes where portraits emerge from the Plexiglas and inside the frames objects, precious fabrics and papers from ancient books, which with the photographs found in the markets tell us a timeless story , of a past that belongs to us, wunderkammer of the universal feminine. The calligraphic use of writing underlines the narrative with texts of great emotional impact.
