About the author:

Marco Tagliafico (Italy, 1985) lives and works in Alessandria, Italy. He studied Oriental Languages and trained in the Master’s program at Fondazione Modena Arti Visive. His work has been featured in several exhibitions, including Ligne(s) de Mire (Bonisson Art Center, 2025), BLA Berlin (Kunstquartier Bethanien, Berlin, 2023), Boiling Projects (Fondazione Oelle, Catania, 2020), Da Guarene all’Etna(Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Guarene, 2019), and 10 Years Old (Foro Boario, Modena, 2017).

He received the Arteam Cup Award in 2024, the MZ Costruzioni Award at Art Verona in 2023, and the New Post Photography Award at Mia Fair in 2021. His works are held in various collections.

His practice develops from a photographic process, with a painterly and installation-based approach. Engaging with the theme of image production as a force shaping our experience of the world, his work employs transparencies, layers, and painted glass to explore the relationship between the visible and the invisible, between physical presence and the digital realm. Within this perceptual gap, his works function as devices for deceleration—obstacles that invite the viewer into a process of visual excavation, a continuous shift between presence and absence.
