The Beautiful Cliche’ – Renato D’Agostin

Presented Artist:

Renato d’Agostin

After the presentation in Paris, New York and Madrid, the exhibition and the homonymous book by Renato D’Agostin, “The Beautiful Cliché -Venice” arrives in Milan.
As with the previous project dedicated to Tokyo, strictly shot on film and printed in the darkroom, presented in 2010 at the Forma Foundation in Milan, the young photographer of Venetian origins, born in 1983, proposes a project dedicated to the city again: this time his , Venice.

Resident for years in New York where he was assistant to the great master Ralph Gibson, Renato D’Agostin tried his hand at trying to tell the city through images that has become a cliché in the imagination of anyone who has seen or imagined it, from which it seemed almost impossible to get out. Renato gives us a new vision of Venice, his made up of images and glimpses of architecture, shadows and people cut out in his typical sharp contrasts of black and white.
A mature and sensitive work, capable of combining the taste of classic photography with a contemporary and conceptual vision, which is difficult to think of, created by an artist of only 29 years of age.

The book is enriched by the introductory text by Renata Codello, Superintendent of Cultural and Architectural Heritage of Venice, and by the texts by Chiara Casarin, curator and by the master of photography Italo Zannier.
