mc2gallery is proud to present the first Milanese exhibition of the young photographer Paolo Ciregia (born in 1987). Paolo managed to create a new personal style with a strong impact by reworking photos he took in the last 4 years, during the conflict in Ukraine, from Maidan Square, to the detachment of Crimea, to the war in Donbass. Paolo intervenes with a cutter or with burns, distorting the reportage nature of his shots. He uses old frames with a slightly kitsch taste that well convey the atmosphere of those lands so distant yet so close and allow him to create installations and sculptures, obtaining a new and contemporary visual language to tell the experience of war.
Paolo Ciregia (Viareggio, 1987), after studying photography, held a masterclass with Alex Majoli. He has received several awards, mentions and was a finalist in many international competitions including the Leica Talent 2012, the Ponchielli award 2014, the Award for Human Values 2014, the Photolux Leica Award 2015, the Athens Photo Festival and the Organ Vida 2015. He has exhibited in various galleries in Italy and abroad: Galleria Moitrè Turin, Villa del Principe Genoa, at the FNAC in Alicante (Spain), in Lugano and Zagreb in the Klovićevi dvori museum.
