Liu Xiaofang solo show

Presented Artist:

Liu Xiaofang

mc2gallery is proud to host the first Italian exhibition of Chinese photographer Liu Xiaofang (Datong City, China, 1980). Liu creates photographs with a dreamlike aesthetic that draws from her childhood memories and poetic contemplation of the world around her. Her landscapes, delicate and apparently utopian, confuse the boundaries between the real world and imagination, letting the viewer ask himself about the concept of truth and reality. Liu’s photography recalls traditional Chinese painting, particularly known for its landscapes, rendered undefined by fog.
Thus placing itself at an intermediate point between painting and photography, these works recreate a world of fairy-tale fantasies, in which the illusion borders on reality, following the path of vague childhood memories. Through these surreal visions, Liu manages to evoke a sense of nostalgia for her past in a sweet and natural way. Liu Xiaofang graduated from the Department of Photography, at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. In 2010 she was one of the very few artists to be named one of the most promising contemporary photographers by the Musée de l ‘Elysée in Lausanne, Switzerland; Liu participated in the “reGeneration2” exhibition and several international exhibitions such as the traveling exhibition “Photographers Today”. In the same year he showed his creativity and talent at Paris Photo. One of his circular visions was chosen in 2008 as an image of the Beijing Olympic Games. Liu has exhibited in group shows around the world, including China, Japan and Switzerland.
