Segni di Pietra – Roberto Kusterle

Presented Artist:

Roberto Kusterle

Roberto Kusterle, Gorizia class ’48, returns to exhibit in Milan in the new headquarters of the mc2gallery with the series “Segni di Pietra”. Kusterle through his shots tells us once again his anthropomorphic vision of nature. A dreamlike vision of returning to a desired fusion between MAN and NATURE that we have forgotten for too long. Series for which he was awarded last year with the Premio Spilimbergo, along with Giovanni Gastel. Kusterle shows petrified human beings, marbling the bodies and making the stone almost flesh. A symbiotic exchange that makes Man part of that Nature which has always sought to dominate, leaving in it traces and signs of a passage as proof of its existence. A reminder to future generations that, starting from the murals in the caves of Lascaux, (France) show the need of Man to communicate and narrate his own History, to the point of impressing his own mark on the stone: a print, a shape, a drawing, a hieroglyph, an alphabet to tell the story of men of this world. Today as then, an attempt to leave a (stone) sign in this brief and mysterious passage called Life. The exhibition of Roberto Kusterle inaugurates on the occasion of the contemporary exhibition: “WUNDERKAMMER – chamber of contemporary wonders” by the Belgian Antonio Nardone during the 55th Venice Biennale, at Palazzo Widmann, until the end of September 2013, a collective in which there are also works of international artists such as Wim Delvoye and Jan Fabre.
