Lo specchio dell’anima – Pierre Gonnord

mc2gallery is proud to present the exhibition of the French photographer Pierre Gonnord, born in 1963 who has lived in Madrid since 1988, whose works are already present at the Reina Sofia or the Pompidou Center. Gonnord returns to exhibit his splendid portraits in Milan at the mc2gallery, thanks to the collaboration with the Galeria Juana de Aizpuru of Madrid. Through his portraits, reminiscent of classical Spanish painting, Gonnord tells stories of dignity, of life, with his lights and shadows. In his portraits, the individual seems to find his way beyond the group of belonging: gypsies, miners, marginalized. Pierre Gonnord investigates the MAN: the depth of his faces and looks bring out the character of the person behind the character. The result is an extraordinary gallery of “Witnesses” who induce the viewer to enter into an intimate and personal dialogue with their faces and lead us to reflect on the Human Being and who we are, in a respectful comparison between social classes and people who, in real life, never have the opportunity to confront each other: putting us in the position of asking ourselves those uncomfortable questions that we often avoid, because we prefer to leave them at the bottom of the soul of which, it is said, the eyes are the mirror.
