mc2gallery Montenegro is proud to present the first exhibition of the 2019 season with the solo show of the Serbian artist Mihailo Beli Karanović, born in 1980, who lives in Belgrade.
At the age of ten he began to study the basics of painting at Živko Grozdanić artist’s studio. After graduating from the Bogdan Šuput special school for Design in Novi Sad, he decided to move to Italy to study Fine Arts at the Brera Academy in Milan.
Since he attended the academy, painting has been his medium of expression. His brush stroke is deep, decisive and sober. He has participated in numerous solo and group shows as well as international art fairs.
The artist’s entire work develops around a detailed analysis of contemporary society: ruins of anonymous cities or archaeological rests of a catastrophic future? This is the question that the viewer is urged to ask in front of Karanović’s paintings. Time that stands still seems like it is expanding with every brush stroke and it is following long perspective lines, as if they were stopped at the moment when a plane touches the runway.
But that moment becomes eternal and never touches the ground, like the pleasure and pain merge into one melted feeling at the end of a journey. Here we are, finally, in front of his canvases, lost in that eternal flight on which art takes us, not letting us to touch the ground, in spite of the coming rain. And it seems it is going to rain.
